Pronouns: They/Them
Supervisor: Marcy Smaha, LPC
Hi there, my name is Devin and I am currently pursuing a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Bushnell University. My personal approach to therapy is rooted in the belief that every individual’s story holds the seeds of resilience and growth. I combine Narrative, Feminist, and Person-centered ideologies, along with mindfulness practices, to help water those seeds. With a deep respect for each person’s lived experiences and the wild complexities of human-ing, I hope to co-create an environment where we can honor who you have been, validate who you are, and nourish the person you are becoming.
I specialize in:
Relational issues, helping folks navigate the intricacies of family, friendship, and community.
Identity exploration, supporting clients in their journeys of self‐discovery including gender, sexuality, cultural, or spiritual identity.
Queer‐affirming care, holding a safe & inclusive environment for LGBTQIA+ clients.
Narrative feminist therapy, honoring personal stories while examining social and cultural influences as well as centering different perspectives.
Eastern‐inspired practices, integrating mindfulness, meditation, ritual, and body‐mind awareness to foster holistic well‐being.
Before joining Alive Counseling Clinic, I worked with children impacted by trauma and disability at the elementary level and have had the honor of serving as a childbirth educator, as well as a birth doula. I also worked as a teaching assistant for public speaking and women’s studies courses at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. These are all still passions of mine and inform the way I interact with the world. When I am not in session, you will find me connecting with my family, chatting with my plants, participating in community events, and singing loudly on long drives.
I am excited to get to know you.
Warmly,
Devin
