Ryan Markofski, Mental Health Intern
Pronouns: He/Him
Supervisor: Marcy Smaha, LPC
I’m Ryan, and I strive to create a collaborative therapeutic experience that honors the client as the expert of their story. I aim to help others reconnect with their values and get in touch with their ability to heal and lead a fulfilling life. My goal is to do this through a person-centered lens and utilizing Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) practices.
My hope is that this approach will allow clients to find a better alignment between their internally held beliefs/goals and their current situation. I believe that this increased sense of congruence allows all of us to achieve more than we believe is possible. In my approach, the counselor’s role is to be a supportive facilitator. I hope to empower clients through cooperatively uncovering strengths, providing new coping mechanisms, and reconnecting them with their innate ability to heal.
I look forward to serving those in my community, and I am especially passionate to assist people working through grief, anxiety, depression, identity shifts, and life transitions. I am committed to being a strong ally to the LBTQIA+ community and other marginalized groups. Whatever a client may be experiencing, I am excited to guide them towards their goals.
My background is in education where I was able to support individuals through their personal development. I’m excited to continue advocating for folks in this role as a Mental Health Intern with Alive Counseling Clinic as I complete my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. In my personal life I enjoy spending my time exploring the outdoors with my puppy and wife, mushroom foraging, and camping.
Ryan comes to us from Bushnell University’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program. He accepts PacificSource OHP as well as wellness-rate sliding scale.
